Official Games Team Sweden: 7 A, 8 B, 4 J

Jättetalang som kom fram tillsammans med blivande svenska mästaren i Brynäs och Leksand Lennart "Lillen" Gustafsson och Hans Mellinger samtidigt i IFK Bofors. Värvades tidigt vidare "Pollenkungen" Calsson i Rögle BK och senare även vidare till AIK.

Spelade sju a-landskamper och var ofta med i snacket kring landslagsuttagningarna under stora delar av 1960-talet. debuterade i Tre Kronor säsongen 1959/60 mot Norge i Borås som backkollega till kompisen från Karlskoga, Lennart "Lillen" Gustafsson. ett relativt b-betonat Sverige vann matchen med 6-2.

Tränade bland annat Vallentuna BK efter sina år som spelare. Tog över ordförandeklubban i Svenska Ishockeyförbundet 2002 efter dynamiske tidigare SSK-backen Rickard Fagerlund. Var kvar på den posten fram till 2004 då Christer Englund tog över ordförandeskapet. Från 2005 till 2009 var även Nilsson ordförande i Rögle BK.
