The 1981 1st overall pick was a superstar from the get-go, winning the Calder Trophy his rookie year with 103 points. Hawerchuk was the first NHL player to reach 1000 career games before turning 31. The 5x All-Star retired in 1997, totaling 1,409 points in 16 seasons.

Hawerchuk, 57, died on August 18, 2020, of stomach cancer, in Barrie, Ont.
